7 Card Stud Poker

7 Card Stud is the most popular version of stud poker. the game is played with slightly different rules governing the process and betting rounds to Texas Holdem. There is another variant to the game known as 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo. Here is how to play both 7 Card Stud game and 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo:

7 Card Stud rules

7 Card Stud poker is played between two and eight players. Each player is dealt a total of seven cards. Three of the cards are dealt face down and the other four face up. To get a five card hand, the player uses a the combination of seven cards.

7 Card Stud is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. The joker card is not used here. The maximum players allowed in 7 Card Stud are eight. Each player posts an ante. The dealer deals three cards to each player; two of them are dealt face down on table. the third card is put with face up on the table. The cards that are dealt face down are called hole cards. The card with face up is called Door card.

7 Card Stud Hi/Lo Poker

The rules of 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo poker are almost same as 7 Card Stud. In 7 Card Stud hi/lo poker, the players are dealt seven cards for each hand. Before the game starts, all stud players post an ante at a low amount. Each player is dealt two hidden hole cards and one open card.

Next, the player with the low uncovered card does the ‘bring-in’, makes the wager of either a half or a small bet. The action happens clockwise till betting has made a complete round. The best five card hand of each player determines the winner of Hi and Lo in a showdown.
