Omaha Poker

Omaha Poker is a popular version of poker often played in many poker tournaments and casinos. The main reason why several poker players love Omaha is that the game is almost identical to the game of Texas Holdem.

How to play Omaha poker

The rules of Omaha poker game are quite like the rules of Texas Hold'em game. The rules of Omaha poker are:

  • The Omaha poker game begins with up to 10 players at the table.
  • There is a round button called the dealer button, used to distinguish the order of betting.
  • Each player is dealt four pocket cards.
  • The players must use two pocket cards and three community cards to make the best possible hand.
  • Each hand begins with posting up of blinds.
  • The first two players on the left of the dealer button make their bets before the cards are dealt.
  • The first poker player posts a small blind of about half the minimum bet and the second player posts the big blind equal to the amount of minimum bet.
  • When the blinds have been posted, each player is dealt with four pocket cards face down.
  • The first round of betting starts with the player on the left of big blind. the players’ turn moves clockwise by the table.
  • There are four betting rounds for each hand. The bets and raises in first two rounds are limited to the lowest bet. In the last two rounds, it becomes equal to the maximum bet. The total amount of money, wagered in each betting round should not go up to the initial bet four times in a round.
  • Next to the first betting round, three other cards are dealt face up.
  • The dealer keeps the cards on the table.
  • The second betting round begins with the player on the left of the dealer button. The order of betting remains the same.
  • The dealer flips over one more card and keeps it beside the flop.
  • The third betting round takes place.
  • The dealer turns over fifth card, called the river. The final betting round begins.
  • The player with the best hand wins the game.
