WSOP and Other Famous Tournaments

The idea of the World Series of Poker was in fact first thought of over two decades prior to the formal debut of the World Series Poker in 1970.

The five-month marathon has attained extra importance due to Benny Binion. He found that the public had daily congregated outside the casino for watching the game with the passion of devoted sports fans and he was astonished to note the fascination this event had created.  

Benny Binion actually shaped this massive challenge for all Poker Players from the moment he determined to initiate the friendly tournaments for some friends in 1969 to check out who was the best. The prize money and the strengths went on increasing year after year. Since then, the World Series of Poker has attained the world recognition in poker and even sporting events with players traveling the world over to prove that they are really the best.

The 2005 WSOP preliminary rounds were held at the RIO, last year with the ultimate two days of the core event finished in its original venue – The Horseshoe in downtown Las Vegas.

It’s not yet been decided where will the WSOP go from this place. The RIO is supposed to accommodate some 8000 players to battle for the 1st prize of over $10 million. Record fields are likely to be seen since online poker is offering more and more satellites into the Main event. This is the highest prize for a poker player and online poker is shaping this arena.

Several online poker rooms are known for their routine events and super satellites to the WSOP. Different packages are offered by them, including the buy in of $10,000 and extra spending money or $1,000. The player is also eligible to win a seat to the WPT event on the backing of online casino rooms.
