To excel in the game of poker one needs to understand the rules very well. An amount of proficiency is also definitely required. As an expert will tell you, there are many types of Poker, namely Caribbean poker, Pai Gow poker etc. Each type has got their own set of rules to be followed. Below are a few types of poker:
Draw Poker Variations: This is one of the types of poker, where in the first deal the player will get a full hand. In the next few rounds he will have to replace some of his cards with new cards.
Stud Poker Variations: In almost all stud games, players receive some cards in the beginning, and with every betting round a card each is given till seven cards are traded (in case of 5 Card Stud it will be five cards). Some times it can be a little different, where all the cards are traded in the beginning itself and open cards at the betting rounds when permitted.
- Shared-Card Poker Variations: Here few cards are given to players on an individual basis which will then be centrally placed on a common table.
- Miscellaneous Poker Variations: All the poker games are included in this that follows the rule, in which hand ranks are standard but without any of the variations stated above.
- Non-Poker Variations: It’s a card game where to decide on the winner the poker hands need not have any standard ranking.
Although learning the rules of poker helps a lot in the long run, there is a lot more to achieving regular success in poker. Few of the things to do would be to learn to trick your rival, getting information on the card statistics, get familiar with various variants; some may pay you well some wont.
